The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons is proud to welcome you to the 2012 Annual Meeting at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco, February 7-11, 2012.

Three expert media roundtable sessions will be held Wednesday through Friday in Room 214, Moscone South, addressing the topics of metal-on-metal hip replacement, war and civilian trauma injuries, and athletic injuries in Olympic athletes and amateurs

There also will be hundreds of lectures and presentations on a wide array of orthopaedic subjects, new research on medical breakthroughs, and consumer health topics of relevance to your readers, listeners and viewers.

AAOS will provide registered media with complimentary breakfast, lunch, and refreshments on Tuesday, February 7 through Friday, February 10. Beverages also will be available Saturday morning, February 11.  Limited wireless Internet access is available inside the press room.

Special Event: Live Shot and Photo Opportunities
Constructing a Safe, and Accessible Playground is all in ONE Day’s Work
Over the course of seven short hours, the AAOS and volunteers will construct a Safe, and Accessible Playground at the Telegraph Hill Neighborhood Center (Tel-Hi), 660 Lombard St. The day begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at approximately 2:30 p.m. Buses will run between the Moscone Convention Center and the build site from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and lunch will be provided on-site.  Media are encouraged to volunteer or just stop by the build for photos, live-shots or interviews.   

New This Year: Ask the Expert

PR staff have arranged for a different expert or experts to be available at 3 p.m., each day, to talk about specific orthopaedic topics. These include: back pain and surgical/non-surgical treatments; smoking and bone health; childhood obesity, the American Joint Replacement Registry (AJRR) and gender disparities in orthopaedic health.
