Dr. Funahashi graduated from University of California at Los Angeles, School of Medicine in 1986. He began teaching shortly after completing his internship in orthopedic residency in 1991 at UCLA, when he joined the faculty at the UCLA Department of Orthopedic Surgery while completing a sports medicine fellowship with Dr. Dale Daniel.
